Approach & Philosophy

I do my best to offer clients warmth, presence, curiosity, authenticity, collaboration, empathy, and a sprinkle of humor throughout services. I want our work together to feel approachable, human, and far from sterile. I value clients' time, energy, and resources, and believe attention to pacing and sustainability is essential. I check in throughout our work, welcome feedback, and adjust care accordingly.

I believe people's mental health and wellness are shaped by how we were raised, what we've been through, the cultures and systems we live within, and sources of strength and support we're tapped into. I also believe people hold deep wisdom about their unique journeys and needs, and are capable of reflection, growth, and healing when supported by the right resources, environments, and connections.

Previous clients have described my approach as "calm and grounding", "gentle but direct", and have said I "helped [them] connect with the parts of [themselves they've] been scared of".

I draw from the following therapy modalities to provide tailored support to clients:

-Narrative Therapy explores the stories we tell ourselves about our life and re-write the stories that aren't serving us anymore.

-Psychodynamic Therapy helps people understand how past experiences shape their current experiences.

-Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) supports people in working towards acceptance, clarifying values, and acting on our values.

-Multicultural Counseling focuses on understanding people within their unique cultural identities and systems they navigate, and exploring how this impacts their mental health and wellness.

-Family Systems Therapy focuses on understanding people through the lens of family/caregiver dynamics, roles, and multigenerational patterns.

-Somatic Therapy explores physical sensations and helps individuals build body awareness and regulation (soothing) skills. [This does not involve physical touch; I verbally guide people through this process.]

-Mindfulness supports people in deepening their awareness of the present moment without judging it or trying to change it.

-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps people explore and modify the relationship between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
